Add Echo to Audio
Apply slap-back, room, hall or cave echo with live preview.
Echo style
Your files are processed on your device and are never uploaded.
Add echo to a voice, instrument or song and hear it live as you change the settings. Pick a style – Slap-back, Room, Hall or Cave – then fine-tune the delay between repeats, the number of repeats and the echo volume.
How to Add Echo
- Choose your audio – MP3, WAV, M4A or the sound of a video.
- Pick an echo style as a starting point.
- Adjust Delay, Repeats and Echo volume while it plays.
- Download the file with the echo.
The Echo Styles
- Slap-back: One quick repeat about a tenth of a second later – the classic rockabilly vocal and guitar sound.
- Room: Short, soft repeats that add space without getting in the way.
- Hall: Longer repeats that fade out gradually.
- Cave: Long, many repeats – for dramatic effects, games and sound design.
Setting the Delay to the Beat
Echoes sound best on music when they land on the beat. Divide 60,000 by the song's BPM to get the length of one beat in milliseconds: at 120 BPM a beat is 500 ms, half a beat is 250 ms. Find a song's tempo with the tap button of our Online Metronome.
Ideas
- A shout in a canyon or a voice in a tunnel for videos and games
- Dub and reggae-style delays on single words
- Thicker guitar and synth parts
- Announcer and stadium effects
