How to Cut Audio Online

Trim or Remove: Two Ways to Cut

By default the tool keeps only the part you select. Use this to trim silence from the start and end, or to save the chorus of a song.

Tick Remove the selected part and it does the opposite: the selection is cut out and the audio before and after it is joined together. Use this to delete a cough, a mistake or an advert from the middle of a recording. The join gets a tiny crossfade, so you won't hear a click.

Can I cut audio on my phone?

Yes. The audio cutter works in Chrome, Safari and other mobile browsers. Drag your finger across the waveform to select a part, or type the start and end times.

Does cutting reduce the sound quality?

Save as WAV to keep full quality. MP3 and M4A are compressed formats, so the file is encoded again, but at the default bitrate the difference is very hard to hear.

How do I delete a part from the middle of a song?

Select the part you want to get rid of, tick Remove the selected part and click Cut audio. The audio before and after the selection is joined into one file.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no upload limit because nothing is uploaded. Very long files, such as recordings of several hours, need more memory, so they work best on a computer.

Can I cut the audio out of a video?

Yes. Open the MP4, MOV or WebM file directly and cut it like any audio file. To save the full soundtrack, use Extract Audio from Video.
